Unidata takes pride in delivering not only well-designed products but also customised, integrated solutions tailored to meet each customer’s unique requirements with precision and care.
System Design
Unidata provides system integration services to satisfy custom requirements. This process involves combining Unidata equipment, dataloggers and sensors, into purpose-built enclosures. Furthermore, we provide data logging scheme writing, Neon and Starlog applications software, documentation and systems installation services.
When systems are developed, the customer’s specific requirements are considered, and the configuration is decided based on technical and commercial criteria. One key design issue is maintainability and field support, especially for remote systems. The Neon Applications Software allows for remote configuration and logger / Neon Remote Terminal configuration adjustment.
Most of all, this is a very cost-effective solution since it minimises/eliminates the need to travel to remote logging sites to reconfigure and diagnose the equipment.
Unidata offers stand-alone systems as well as the option of integration of the Unidata equipment inside the customer’s existing enclosures.
Systems design key issues to consider
- Datalogger and instrument selection, deciding on the most appropriate measurement method. For more info please see Unidata Dataloggers Range
- Telemetry selection – IP communications via cell phone or satellite communications
- Site power selection, deciding if a sealed lead acid battery with solar panel support is best, or an alternative power source, for example, a bank of high capacity lithium batteries may be a better choice. Unidata has battery calculator tools available to decide on the best battery option for such systems
- Instrument enclosure selection, deciding on the most appropriate housing, weatherproof polycarbonate or steel enclosure, with or without sunshade protection
- Logging and reporting interval selection, deciding on the balance between the cost of the telemetry (important for satellite links) and the need for 5-minute, 15-minute, hourly or daily reporting
- Power usage considerations, deciding on the balance between battery consumption and the logging and reporting interval.

Neon GPS Tracker 2501F
The 2501F module can be used with NRLs, using the Modbus protocol, to track the location of systems moved to different sites. This provides the end operator with details of where the equipment has been moved, allowing for correct data analysis.
