Model 6004-21 Starlogger
Keypad Durability Issue

Problem
Some 6004-21 'Blue' Starlogger may develop keypad operation problems. The keys when operated may not release fully resulting in incorrect operation of the Starlogger.
Symptoms
Anecdotally failures appear to occur mainly when the logger is used in cold environments.
The symptoms may include:
- Continuous (repeated) keypad button press acknowledgment "beeps".
- The logger may appear to be 'locked up' with no keypad response.
This problem has been traced to a manufacturing process change in the externally sourced membrane keypads. Corrective action has been taken to amend this process.
Products affected
Starloggers within the serial number range 7380 to 7860 shipped between September 2003 and April 2004 are affected by this product alert
Corrective action
Should the above operational problems occur, replacement of the keypad can be arranged by returning the Starlogger to your Unidata Distributor.
