4 Electrode Water Conductivity Probe (6536P)

Problem
The NTC Thermistor (temperature transducer) fitted in the 6536P 4 Electrode Water Conductivity Probe is not 100% compatible with the 6536C (or B) 4 Electrode Water Conductivity Instrument /MicroLogger. Minor errors result as the water temperature rises or drops below 25°C. The problem resulted in -2°C errors at low temperatures (0°C), and +4°C errors at high temperatures (70°C).
The error is minor in the temperature compensated water conductivity reading. It is more noticeable if the temperature is also used as one of the measurements logged. This affects all instruments shipped before April 2001.
Correction
The 6536P 4 Electrode Water Conductivity Probe will be discontinued effective end of March 2001, and replaced with the 6536P/2 4 Electrode Water Conductivity Probe. 6536P/2 4 Electrode Water Conductivity Probe shipped from the factory after March 2001 shall be fitted with 100% compatible NTC Thermisters.
Customers with earlier 6536P 4 Electrode Water Conductivity Probes, and who want to correct for the above temperature measurement problem, will need to upgrade their software.
To upgrade the 6536C (or B) 4 Electrode Water Conductivity Instrument /MicroLogger software, download the below listed files (FEC5V3.bin firmware version 53.10-3 or later, along with Starlog files PDLCDT.db and PDL6536C.cdm) from the Unidata website.
You will have to update the following files before running the Starlog Software, and update the firmware (See STARLOG VERSION 3 USERS MANUAL: 8.2 Upgrading Firmware, pg. 82).

NOTE: FEC5V3.bin is the firmware file, it will be automatically detected in the Starlog directory and used to as new firmware when you upgrade firmware as per section 8.2 in the V3 Users manual.
