Product Alert #55

Model 6301 Starlog Version 3 Software

Large Report Generation Problem

29 August 2000

Problem

When using Starlog Version 3 to generate large 'ASCII' or 'Print to File' format outputs from a large download file (typically from a Memory card logger or a Prologger) a message appeared 'Limiting Rows to 65535'. PDLOUT was reducing the amount of contiguous data that could be output to an ASCII (e.g. *.A01) or print file (e.g. *.P01) This has been fixed in the program PDLOUT - a new version of PDLOUT 2.5.3 is available for downloading. This version of PDLOUT will be incorporated into the next release of Starlog V3 (i.e. revision F). Note: Lotus output formats will still be limited to 65535 contiguous rows of data - blame Microsoft and Lotus for this limitation - not us please!

Correction

Upgrade the PDLOUT.EXE file to version 2.3.5 – available here. (Download the file and then copy into the c:\starlog directory). For handling large amounts of data we recommend that you use Starlog to generate a ASCII file from the Datalogger download file and then import the ASCII file into a database such as Microsoft Access.
