Product Alert #48
Starlog Software Version 3 - Model 6301
Prologger Issues
20 August 1999
48.1 Prologger Logs Incorrect Temperatures
Problem
Prologgers programmed with software earlier than Version 3.09 Revision C had incorrect temperature conversion formulas that did not work with the Prologger.
48.2 Analog Channels Not Updating, Some Instruments Not Working
Problem
The new Prologger achieves its high accuracy (in part) by waiting longer for the analog signal to settle. This extra time can significantly reduce the life span of the battery pack. To reduce this, earlier versions of the software only turned on those analog channels that were directly referred to in the schemes.
However, some instruments (notably the Model 6504 Wind Speed and Direction Instrument) do not directly refer to their analog channels. In these cases, the analog channels these instruments are connected to are not turned on on the Prologger!
This problem has been solved by the software unconditionally turning on analog channels 0-7 (both low and high resolution).
Correction
To correct all of the above problems, upgrade to Starlog software
Version 3.09C or later.
