Product Alert #40
6004-3x Memory Card Starlogger
Memory Cards Not Recognised By Logger
8 April 1997
Problem
This problem only affects the Memory Card Starlogger. It does not affect the Standard or Display Starlogger.
If a memory card has a low battery, or has been corrupted due to a low battery, the card is treated as if it is not there.
Since most computers and memory card drives (including the Databook) don't appear to report low battery conditions, the card can appear to work perfectly when using a PC, but when inserted into a logger, the card will be ignored and make it appear as if the memory card feature of the logger is malfunctioning.
The logger is simply refusing to recognise a memory card with a suspect battery.
Correction
Upgrade to Version 22.11 Firmware or later.
This firmware provides the following extra status messages under the general error message “Error...Mem Card”:
- ”Bad Structure” – The card could not be recognised as a valid memory card. The card should be reformatted and/or the battery checked.
- ”Battery is Flat” – The battery on the card is low or flat and should be replaced immediately.
