Product Alert #31

Version 3.05 Starlog Software - Model 6301B

Incorrect Dates on Memory Card Data

30 May 1996

Problem

When a STARLOGGER is unloaded in an “incremental” manner onto a memory card, the reported time/date is not calculated from the “last log entry” but from the “first log entry”.

Symptom

If you unload a STARLOGGER with a memory card, then unload again with a cleared memory card sometime later, only the newly logged data will be transferred to the memory card (automatic incremental unload). When this data is displayed, the time/date of the logged data is incorrectly calculated as the date when logging first started. The dates shown in the list of unload files are similarly incorrect.

Note: If you unload again with the same memory card, the newly logged data is appended to the memory card file and the reported time/dates are correct. This error only occurs if you delete the previous unload file from the memory card, then unload again.

***WARNING*** If you load a logger with a new scheme, but leave an unload file from that logger on the memory card, a subsequent unload to that memory card will append to the previous (old) unload file making it unuseable.

Correction

Download the Version 3 Update.

This problem has been corrected in software versions 3.051 and later.

Alternatively, the date/time may be logged as part of the log entry. This will correct the time/date on displayed data, but not in the index of unload files.
