Product Alert #27

Version 3.03 Software - Model 6301A/B - Serial #s 350 to 424

Test Mode display - incorrect B/W palette

8 November 1995

Problem

There is an error in the screen palette file PDL.LCD which is used for VGA screens with monochrome displays. This file is copied to the system file PDL.PAL and used by all V3 programs to derive their display characteristics when the user has selected “Monochrome Display” during installation.

Symptom

When using a notebook computer with a Black & White LCD screen, the color palette used, causes the Test Mode display to FLASH.

Correction

Using a text editor, alter the second line of the palette file “PDL.LCD” from:-

0x01 0x07 0x08 0x6F 0x60 0x68 0x6F
0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00

to:-

0x01 0x07 0x08 0x6F 0x60 0x68 0x6F
0x07 0x0F 0x0F 0x08 0x0F 0x0F 0x0F 0x00

If using a monochrome display, then copy the corrected file PDL.LCD to the system file PDL.PAL

The error is corrected in Serial No. 425 onwards.
