Product Alert #24

STARLOGGER - Model 6004B - Ser #s 1849 to 2168

Counter channels - not counting over 300Hz

18 July 1995

Problem

Some STARLOGGERs in this series may have 100k 4N.COM SIL Resistor pack incorrectly fitted in positions RP1, RP2 or RP4 instead of a 10k SIL Pack.

This reduces the cutoff frequency for the counter channel filters on C0 & C2 so that frequencies above 300Hz are not counted. (The cutoff frequency should be above 3000Hz.)

Also the Analog channels A0..A7 may measure incorrectly in when driven from a source greater than 10k.

Symptom

C0 and C2 channels do not count fast pulses or frequencies above 300Hz.

Analog readings may be incorrect.

Correction

Inspect STARLOGGER PCB and replace all 100k 8 pin SIL resistor packs (marked 104) with 10k SILs (marked 103) where incorrectly fitted.
