Product Alert #13
STARLOGGER DATA LOGGER - Model 6004A - Serial #301 to 550
Starlogger V21.07 FIRMWARE ERRORS
31 August 1993
13.1 STARLOGGER DSR Signal – wrong polarity
The DSR RS-232 signal (Pin #2 computer connector) is inverted. This signal is not used in standard logger communications.
13.2 STARLOGGER UPS Pre-scan increased from 8 to 16ms
Some slow starting instruments (notably older stainless steel Capacitive Depth Probes), require more that 8ms power up time before their output signal has stabilised. Extending the UPS power on time from 8ms to 16ms corrects this problem.
13.3 STARLOGGER **** FATAL ERROR **** in diagnostic mode
The “R=PROM” diagnostic test (which is used to test the EEPROM circuits) may occasionally overwrite the EEPROM firmware. The STARLOGGER then becomes unusable and must be returned to UNIDATA for repair.
<<< DO NOT USE THE “R=PROM” DIAGNOSTIC TEST >>>
Correction
Upgrade the STARLOGGER to V21.8 Firmware.
Note
These problems have been fixed in firmware V21.8 which has been fitted to STARLOGGERs shipped from the factory after 31 August 1993.
