Product Alert #10

STARLOGGER DATA LOGGER - Model 6004A - All Serial #s

STARLOGGER CONFIGURATION - Technical information

23 June 1993

Problem

STARLOGGER HSIO fails to reload the serial shift registers if the serial input to the last instrument on a HSIO channel is not terminated low.

If bit+1 of the shift registers is high, the UPS is held ON and cannot be used as a HSIO Sync signal to reload the shift registers for the next scan.

Symptom

Readings on all serial instruments (6509, 6518, 6531 etc.) will be incorrect (reading maximum values).

Correction

Ensure that the “serial in” signal on the last instrument is terminated low. This will normally occur if the “serial in” to the last instrument is LEFT UNCONNECTED.

Note

All instruments EXCEPT the Model 6113A Digital Input Module have the “serial in” signal terminated low. (If using the 6113A, ensure the “serial in” signal is connected to ground.)
