STARLOGGER DATA LOGGER - Model 6004A - All Serial #s
STARLOGGER CONFIGURATION - Technical information
23 June 1993
For some applications it may be necessary for you to alter the STARLOGGER’s default configuration. For example, to change battery type, counter resolution, channel gain, UPS pre-scan, RS-232 timeout and RS-232 comms mode you must alter the configuration.
Alerations made to the configuration are permanent (they remain in the STARLOGGER even without power connected).
V2.1 of the STARLOG Software Package automatically loads the STARLOGGER configuration whenever the logger is programmed. There are three ways to adjust configurations:-
- Automatically from Scheme information ...
such as scan rate and counter prescale (refer to Release Notes)
- For a particular Scheme...
via the config field in the Scheme Title (6004A) using settings (see below) in the title field (refer to Release Notes)
- Globally, by settings in the PDL.CDT file ...
edit the file and add a line for each CDT byte alteration. Each line contains the byte offset address in the CDT, followed by the CDT byte value. If you need to alter a value greater than 256 (one byte) then you need to alter two (2) consecutive addresses & values.
Note
The attached printout lists the current addresses and settings. USE WITH CARE as incorrect alterations to the CDT may cause the STARLOGGER to stop operating.
Useful settings are:-
18 1 (set A0 to gain=10, 255mV range)
10 0 (set asynchronous RS-232 comms)
154 5 (set UPS pre-scan to 40ms)
164 88 (set RS-232 timeout to 1 sec)
165 2
220 10 (slow HSIO clock rate by 50us)
