STARLOGGER - resetting after installing new battery

Problem

The “power on” reset may not effectively reset the STARLOGGER when a new battery is fitted after the power has been removed for several minutes. The problem occurs with “scan synchronised” communications setting (which is the default configuration setting).

Symptom

Unable to communicate with STARLOGGER or no indicator lights flashing after installing a new battery.

Correction

  1. Remove battery +ve(red) wire for 10 seconds and then reconnect to STARLOGGER. Repeat until STARLOGGER initialises (Battery indicator flashes).
  2. If STARLOGGER has Display/Keyboard option, press the ON key and reset the logger using the RESET command in the CONFIG key list.
  3. Upgrade STARLOGGER to V21.5 Firmware.

Note

This problem has been fixed in firmware version V21.5 which has been fitted to STARLOGGERs with Serial# above 550 or STARLOGGERs shipped from the factory after the 19 June 1993.
