Systems

Unidata supplies a wide range of water quality systems. In the example shown in the illustration, water conductivity and temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and water depth are all measured.

This system combines a 6536C Water Electro-Conductivity Instrument with a STARLOG data logger. The 6536C and the data logger communicate using the SDI-12 bus.

The water conductivity probe is connected to the 6536C while the other instruments are connected to the data logger via a field termination strip located in the waterproof enclosure.

Ultra low-power consumption makes the 6536C ideal for remote, unattended operation.

This instrument will operate for months from its own internal power supply.

Installing the telemetry option enables you to monitor data acquisition, re-program the unit, and check the health of the site, all from a remote location. This can be done over landline, cellular, and radio communication links, whichever alternative is available and most cost effective at the installation site. Using this feature reduces the need for time consuming site visits.

Note that when you use one of the telemetry options you may need to provide external power such as a solar panel, external battery and regulator.

Like all Unidata systems you can connect many other sensors to the standard system. For example, the water quality may be affected by the rate of flow so a 6526C Starflow could be used to measure the rate of flow. If the flow you intend to measure was shallow, you could use the depth measurement facility of the Starflow and omit the 6542 Hydrostatic Water Depth and Temperature Probe.
